TW Newsdesk, Aug 2: A pair of twins were conjoined at the head. They have been successfully separated with the help of virtual reality in Brazil. The three-year-old boys had underwent seven surgeries.
It was involving more than 27 hours of operating time in the final operation alone, as well as lmost 100 medical staff. They are now able to look at each other for the first time.
“The twins had the most serious as well as difficult version of the condition. They had the highest risk of death for both,” said neurosurgeon Gabriel Mufarrej of the Paulo Niemeyer State Brain Institute (IECPN) in Rio. That’s where the procedure was performed.
