TW Newsdesk, Feb 8: At least 20 prisoners broke out of a Syrian prison on February 7, taking advantage of a terrible earthquake that claimed thousands of lives. After the earthquake, the jail inmates staged a rebellion and broke out.

More than 2,000 prisoners, including approximately 1,300 members of the terrorist organisation Islamic State, are held in the military police jail in the city of Rajo in southwest Syria

AFP cited a jail administrator as stating, ‘after the earthquake happened, Rajo was affected and convicts started to mutiny and gained possession of areas of the institution. About 20 prisoners who are thought to be IS jihadists have escaped.’
