TW Newsdesk, January 25: Former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo claims that he never considered Sushma Swaraj to be an “important political figure” but that he had a great rapport with S Jaishankar, the minister of external affairs, and that they clicked even on their first encounter.
Pompeo used the slang terms “goofball” and “heartland political hack” to refer to Swaraj in his most recent book, “Never Give an Inch: Fighting for America I Love”.
From May 2014 to May 2019, Swaraj served as the first Modi administration’s minister of external affairs. In August 2019, she passed away.
