TW Newsdesk, Jan25: The leader of Sweden’s far-right party has been denounced for burning the Quran, the holy book of Islam, by the high representative of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC).

The spokesperson for UNAOC High Representative Miguel Angel Moratinos said in a statement that while he underscores the need to protect freedom of speech as a fundamental human right, he equally emphasises that burning the Quran is a show of hatred for Muslims.

The statement, ‘It is very demeaning and insulting to the followers of Islam and should not be equated with freedom of expression.’
