TW Newsdesk, Feb 08: As Moscow continued its escalating winter offensive in the east and sent tens of thousands of newly mobilised troops to the front lines, Ukraine said that the last 24 hours had seen the highest death toll for Russian forces thus far in the conflict.

It was impossible to objectively verify the Ukrainian allegation that more than 1,000 Russian soldiers had been killed in a single day, and Russia had recently made similar claims against Ukrainian soldiers.
