TW Newsdesk, Jan25: The Delhi High Court has stated that instead of punishing law interns with the filing of FIRs for ‘inadvertent activities,’ they must be counselled and cautioned against impersonating lawyers in court. According to the high court, widespread warning that is enough and appropriate will significantly lower such events.
According to Justice Anish Dayal, a law intern is a student who is learning the rules and practises of the court; as such, it is the responsibility of the institution to take the necessary measures to facilitate its education and training rather than to punish them for these unintentional acts.
