TW Newsdesk, January 25: The Supreme Court approved purse seine fishing (PSF) outside of Tamil Nadu’s territorial waters but set strict restrictions on how far the practice might go beyond the state’s 12-nautical-mile boundary.

Justices A.S. Bopanna and Sudhanshu Dhulia were on a bench that said: “We believe that it is important to safeguard the interests of all parties. Therefore, we propose that a limited temporary order be passed, permitting purse seine fishing under specific restrictions within the Exclusive Economic Zone but outside of Tamil Nadu’s territorial seas.”
