TW Newsdesk, Jan 25:  On the strength of some steady performances, middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer and right-arm bowler Mohammed Siraj were selected for the ODI team of the year.

Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan, has been selected as the leader of the 2022 ICC Men’s ODI Team of the Year. It was understandable that Indian legends Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma had no place.

With the emphasis squarely on T20 cricket, none of them played much 50-over cricket last year. In addition to two players from the West Indies, two from Australia, two from New Zealand, and one each from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Zimbabwe, the squad also had two Indians.
